Julia Rogers is a sculptor who focuses on installation and performance art using glass, metal and other materials.She holds a BFA from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, Carbondale, IL, 2008, and is an MFA candidate at Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, OH (2010).
Originally from Brookings, Oregon, Julia studied art at Oregon State University in the late 1990's. She discovered glassblowing in 2000 and left school to learn how to work with this new found material.
In 2001 she opened a glass studio with Richard Langley called Cloud Cap Glass, in Florence, Montana. This studio was operated until 2003. In 2004 she and artist Robin Rogers opened The Missoula School of Hot Glass, Missoula, MT, where she made her artwork and taught classes.
In 2006 Julia returned to school to finish her BFA degree, and has gone on in persuit of her MFA. She has been a student and teaching assistant at both Pilchuck Glass School, Stanwood, WA, and the Penland School of Craft, Penland, NC.
